About the Company 

The client is a fast-growing, early-stage technology firm focused on developing intelligent risk assessment platforms and automated trust verification mechanisms for highly regulated enterprise sectors. Having already secured significant multi-year commercial agreements and generated substantial early revenue, they are expanding their core technical capabilities.

The company operates out of London with strong financial stability from leading early-stage venture investors. They are looking to strengthen their technical core by bringing on board a high-agency Founding Engineer to lead their automated agent platform development. 

The Role in a Nutshell

We are looking for a Senior Backend & Infrastructure Engineer to build and secure the foundational architecture powering our client's autonomous risk engines. In this high-impact position, you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of core platform microservices, multi-tenant isolation mechanics, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise security frameworks. You will directly enable expansion into stringent financial and healthcare environments by engineering an infrastructure layer that satisfies top-tier compliance and security standards. 

Key Responsibilities

• Core Service Development: Construct, optimize, and maintain resilient backend APIs, asynchronous message-driven workflows, and data stores using TypeScript and Node.js.

• Cloud Infrastructure & IaC: Architect and manage Microsoft Azure infrastructure (including Container Apps, Service Bus, Front Door, and Entra ID) utilizing Terraform for fully automated provisioning.

• Multi-Tenant Architecture & Isolation: Design and execute strict multi-tenant isolation strategies across data persistence, network perimeters, and compute execution layers.

• Security & Compliance Engineering: Operationalize security controls and automated evidence collection routines to meet stringent SOC 2, ISO 27001, and enterprise bank-grade security audits.

• Platform Tooling & Agent Execution: Develop underlying developer primitives, internal scripting tools, and execution environments that support long-running agent tasks and heavy document processing.

• Deployment & Operational Readiness: Oversee deployment pipelines, system telemetry, and incident response practices to maintain continuous reliability as system traffic scales.

 Experience

• Professional Background: We are looking for an engineer with at least 6 years of applied backend development practice, combined with a deep structural understanding of infrastructure and security architecture. 

• Cloud & IaC Expertise: Consistent hands-on experience provisioning and scaling workloads in Microsoft Azure (or AWS/GCP with a fast ramp-up onto Azure), alongside production-level Terraform mastery and Docker containerization.

• Tech Stack Proficiency: Advanced skills in TypeScript and Node.js for server-side engineering, alongside familiarity with CI/CD automation (GitHub Actions) and relational databases (PostgreSQL).

• Security & Regulatory Mastery: Proven expertise in defining identity controls (IAM), secrets management, network segmentation, and driving formal compliance certifications (SOC 2, ISO 27001) from an architectural standpoint.

• Operational Maturity: Track record of managing production incident response (on-call cycles) and engineering high-availability, audit-ready enterprise SaaS systems.

• On-Site Presence: Availability to work on-site at the company’s London headquarters (King's Cross), with flexibility for occasional remote work when required.

Compensation

• Collaboration Structure: Permanent employment contract

• Financial Package: Estimated £130,000 - £170,000 / year (commensurate with senior engineering capabilities and domain depth)  + meaningful EMI-eligible equity options
